AIANTA “Goes West” 2017
Have you attended Go West Summit? If you are looking for an event that offers an incredible opportunity to meet with the world’s top international tour operators while also learning about industry news and issues – Go West should be at the top of your list!
AIANTA had the opportunity to participate in Go West Summit 2017, February 20-23 in Reno, Nevada, where we introduced Indian Country tourism to attendees representing the tourism industry of the Western United States and others from around the world.
We were thrilled to take the time to speak about the valuable travelers that Native America attracts, what that means to the industry as a whole, and encourage partnerships and collaborations to enhance tourism and economic impact for tribes, states, cities, DMOs, and the industry alike.
Also at Go West this year we heard from Julie Heizer with the National Travel and Tourism Office on the official International Travel Forecast for the upcoming year; we learned about understanding the British traveler from Chrystal Denys of the U.S. Embassy in London; we heard from the National Park Service and others connected to the Parks about the overwhelming success of the Find Your Park campaign and some issues and concerns that have been raised around the country thereafter; we learned about the growing Chinese market and their travelers from Commercial Service in China; and much, much more.
Following the educational sessions, Go West hosted a networking reception at the National Automobile Museum, a successful two days of business meetings, and even a little adventure. Day trip tours of Reno and the surrounding area were offered to registrants – a part of the event that Go West calls “Adventure Day.”
While Go West Summit focuses on the Western United States, AIANTA members from anywhere in the country are able to register and attend. AIANTA highly recommends attending this show for conducting business while getting a great learning experience at the same time.
